9 of the Fastest RC Cars Built for Crazy Speed!

Posted by RCSuperstore on 30th Sep 2019

Speed is not everything in the RC hobby world, but many enthusiasts pay close attention to how fast some models can go. When you are racing RC models, there is no such thing as too much speed. You want to go as fast as you can, but you also do not want to sacrifice performance

For the record, RC technology has advanced to the point of matching the top speeds of supercars. In 2014, for example, an experimental model dubbed the "Radio Controlled Bullet" made the Guinness World Record with 202 miles per hour. As of 2019, the Rimac electric supercar topped the speedometer at 257 mph. That record means that such speeds can be reasonably achieved by scale models as well.

The problem with concept remote control cars built to break land speed records is that they are limited to racing down straight tracks. If you want the fun of cornering, completing laps, and negotiating off-road conditions at top speeds, you will want to look into the following three models available from the  RC Superstore now:

Traxxas XO-1 1/7 Scale Supercar

Full-throttle acceleration needs to be coupled with superior handling, and this is what the XO-1 delivers. Heavily inspired by the full-scale supercars, this Traxxas model is Ready-to-Run out of the box, and it can go faster than 100 mph. Naturally, you will need to race on a smooth surface track to get the most out of the XO-1.

You will also have the advantage of the Castle Creations Mamba Monster Extreme electronic speed controller and the Traxxas Stability Management. Both give you full control at very high speeds. The stylish body of this RTR model features aerodynamic design, and the chassis has been engineered for pure speed. A Bluetooth wireless module connects to the Traxxas Link Application for fine-tuning.

Perhaps more than anything else this helps to ensure that this vehicle in question would always be able to run as fast as it possibly could for conditions. If you've ever seen how crews deal with an automobile race in real life, then you're familiar with how much impact even the slightest change could have. The same is true on a smaller scale too, so messing around with the app could be very rewarding.

Traxxas X-Maxx 8S 4WD Monster Truck

How much speed can you realistically manage when running RC trucks? For many experienced RC drivers who race in off-road conditions, the answer is higher than 50 mph, but not too much above 65 mph. Instead of top speeds, you want acceleration and torque to move the more rugged vehicles, which tend to be heavier with their four-wheel-drive designs.

The X-Maxx 8S is a large and extremely rugged model that delivers plenty of acceleration, enough to handle jumps. The ESC module is encased with waterproof sealing for muddy and snowy tracks. That should help with those who drive on purpose-made carpet tracks. While it's hard to say if it would make it into the top 10 fastest RC cars that can run on these kinds of tracks, it's pretty easy to assume that it would perform very well in a racing situation even if the underlying mat that the drivers were competing on was producing any sort of debris.

You may find that it's even useful for otherwise clean courses because it blocks out the smallest amount of material, which serves to make it an even faster choice.

Traxxas Unlimited Desert Racer 4WD 6S

Inspired by the Baja 1000 trophy trucks, the Desert Racer is a 4WD model that can travel at speeds higher than 50 mph on sandy courses. This RTR model can do more than just travel at crazy speeds. It can also jump over dunes, rocks, and other obstacles. Desert performance is provided by an advanced suspension system equipped with an almost unbreakable rear axle.

It's that feature that really separates it from any of the other vehicles that could be considered its competition. In general, the back axle of a vehicle tends to be the most fragile. Those looking for fast remote control cars for adults will want to keep this one in mind. Serious racers in particular have long been attracted to the fact that its level of structural integrity.

Traxxas T-Maxx 2.5 4WD Nitro RTR Monster Truck

Traxxas T-Maxx 2.5 4WD Nitro RTR Monster Truck

Some have claimed that the fastest RC car in the world goes 300 mph, so why would anyone include a truck on this list that tops out around 40-45 mph? The reason is because of practicality. Within its class, the Traxxas T-Maxx is easily one of the fastest vehicles around. You don't normally find trucks that are this beefy or have these kinds of powerful wheels that can do speeds like this. It's a rare example of a vehicle that's built for both speed and power.

You can certainly call it a radio controlled bullet that's ready to take on dirt and other tough terrain. No matter what you might be looking at, T-Maxx should be able to handle it. While it might not be the fastest RC car in the world in 2020, it's certainly among the fastest trucks and easily one of the ones that you'd want to say is crazy in terms of speed.
