| This is the JR R2000 PCM 10-Channel Dual-Conversion Synthesized Receiver. With the R2000, owners can choose the desired frequency at the push of a button, eliminating the need to have an assortment of crystals. ScanSelect automatically tunes itself to your transmitter's frequency. This will work both with JR transmitters that are using a module with a crystal, and they will also work with transmitters using a synthesized module.
Most people tend to attribute the exceptional performance of the R2000 to its most visible feature: the frequency synthesizer. While it can be said that the synthesizer does help keep the receiver locked-in on frequency extremely well, the synthesizer alone is not responsible for such a quantum leap in performance. So what is responsible?
In talking with JR’s engineers, for technical reasons they elected to change the 10.7 MHz stage IC of the R2000 to a completely new unit. The payoff of this new IC is that it offers a far superior signal-to-noise ratio than the old unit. In the two examples above, both models had a form of model-generated noise or blocking, which the R2000 filtered out. JR attributes this principally to the updated IC.
That said, receiver design is part art, part science. Clearly, the R2000 is an exceptional blend of high sensitivity and high selectivity to give your model superb protection against interference in today’s complex RF environment.
